SAN FRUTTUOSO. - Ancient Benedictine abbey in the village of the same name in the municipality of Camogli, in the province and archdiocese of Genoa.

Founded at the end of the 10th century, it was enriched by the Empress Adelaide. The abbey church is of the Lombard type, with three naves and a dome, and displays reminiscences of Byzantine and Provençal art. The cloister preserves Roman marbles. Beneath the monastery, members of the Doria family were buried from 1275 to 1305; since 1550 it has been under their patronage. The adjoining building was restored in 1933-34.
