SECCO, ANACLETO. - Barnabite, b. at Cremona in 1585, d. at Milano on 13 Sept. 1636.
He was Superior of several Houses of his Order and a Lenten preacher. He published De ecclesiastica hymnodia libri tres (Bologna 1629), on the nobility, effects, and proper manner of chanting the Divine Office in choir; it went through three Latin editions and one Italian version (Milano 1643); and Esercizi di pie meditazioni per rinovazione dello spirito, da farsi nel ritiro annuale praticato dai Barnabiti (Milano 1635). Published posthumously, under the editorship of Fr. Maggi, was his De Clericorum Regg. S. Pauli congregazione et parentibus synopsis (Milano 1682), of primary importance for the historiography of the Order, as it was in the process of canonization of the founder, St. Antonio M. Zaccaria.
