SIMEON, Bishop of Jerusalem, Saint, Martyr. - Second bishop of that city (Eusebius, Hist. eccl., III, 11 and 32). Many identify him with the apostle Simon the Cananaean, whereas the historical Martyrologies and the Roman Martyrology (18 Feb.), the Synaxaria and Menologia (27 Apr., 18 Sept.) distinguish the one from the other (v.
