Simeon, Bishop of Jerusalem, Saint, Martyr

SIMEONE, bishop of GERUSALEMME, saint, martyr. – Second bishop of that city (Eusebius, Hist. eccl., III, 11 and 32). Many identify him with the apostle Simone Cananeo, whereas the historical Martyrologies and the Roman Martyrology (18 February), the Synaxaria and Menologia (27 April, 18 September) distinguish one from the other (v. saint).
