SINALOA, DIOCESI of. — City and diocese of the State of the same name in Mexico (North America).
With an area of 58,488 sq km, it has a population of 550,000 inhabitants, of whom 495,000 are Catholics, distributed among 25 parishes served by 48 diocesan and 3 regular priests; it has a seminary, 2 male and 21 female religious communities (Ann. Pont. 1952, p. 380). The diocese was created by Pope Leo XIII on 27 January 1884 as a suffragan of Durango.
