SINALOA, Diocese of - City and diocese of the same-named State in Mexico (North America).

Over an area of 58,488 sq. km., it comprises a population of 550,000 inhabitants, of whom 495,000 are Catholics distributed in 25 parishes served by 48 diocesan priests and 2 regular priests; it has a seminary; 2 male religious communities and 21 female ones (Ann. Pont. 1932, p. 380). The diocese was created by Pope Leo XIII on 27 January 1884 as a suffragan of Durango.
