ABATI, ALESSANDRO. – Bishop of Toscanella and Viterbo, born in Rome on 8 July 1681, died in Viterbo in 1748. Having entered the prelature, he became secretary of the Congregation of the Council and titular bishop of Philadelphia, then bishop of Toscanella and Viterbo (12 July 1731). He was a restorer of his diocese.
Among other works, there remain from him homilies and moral discourses, as well as the Constitutiones of the first diocesan synod. On the work he undertook to honor the relics of s. Savino and of five other martyrs discovered on 30 Aug. 1746 V. Ragguaglio della prodigiosa invenzione de' corpi e reliquie di sei santi seguita nell'insigne collegiata di S. Angelo in Viterbo ecc. (1746).
