ADDA, FERDINANDO d'. — Cardinal, born in Milan in 1649, died in Rome in 1719. As nuncio, he worked diligently with King James II of England to bring about the return of that nation to Catholicism (1665–88). A cardinal from 1690, he was legate of Ferrara and prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Rites. At his death he left his possessions to Propaganda Fide. He was buried in Rome, at San Carlo al Corso.
