ADDA, FERDINANDO d'. - Cardinal, b. in Milan in 1649, d. in Rome in 1719. As nuncio, he worked extensively with King James II of England to seek the return of that nation to Catholicism (1658–88). Created cardinal in 1690, he served as legate of Ferrara and prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Rites. At his death, he bequeathed his goods to the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. He was buried in Rome, at S. Carlo al Corso.
