ADDAEUS, DOCTRINE OF. - A narrative apocryphon from the end of the 4th or beginning of the 5th century on the introduction of Christianity to Edessa. Written by Labubna, son of Senank(?) in Syriac, it was translated into Armenian.
The first part Abgar (v.) and to the Acts of Edessa as preserved by Eusebius (Hist. ecc. I, 13), upon which it depends (against Zahn). Here, however, Christ responds orally, not in the form of a letter, to King Abgar’s invitation to come to Edessa.
