ADALOALDO, RE DEI LONGOBARDI

ADALOALD, King of the Lombards. — Son of Agilulf and Theodelinda, born in 602 and baptized at Easter in 603. The following year he was proclaimed by his father himself, in Milan, as heir to the Lombard throne. He succeeded Agilulf in 615 or 616 and ruled under his mother’s regency, giving his policy a direction favorable to the Church. In 625 a revolt of Lombard dukes forced him to flee to Ravenna.
