ADALOALDO, king of the LONGOBARDS. – Son of Agilufo and Teodolinda, b. in 602 and baptized at Easter in 603. The following year, in Milan, he was proclaimed heir to the Lombard throne by his father himself. He did in fact succeed Agilufo in 615 or 616 and ruled under his mother’s regency, giving his policy a direction favorable to the Church. In 625, a revolt by Lombard dukes forced him to flee to Ravenna.
