ADELARD II, CATTANEO. — Cardinal, born in Lendinara toward the end of the 12th century. He was a canon of Verona and in 1183 or 1184 was created cardinal by Lucius III. During the time of the Third Crusade he was sent to the East by Pope Clement III. In 1188 or 1189 he was elected bishop of Verona, but in 1214 he resigned the episcopal dignity and retired to the monastery of St. Zeno, where he died about 1225.
