ADIMARI, Ubaldo, Blessed. - Born around 1247 in Florence, he took part from his youth in the heated party struggles of that time. Of gigantic stature, bold and warlike, he led a life of violence and debauchery until, converted by St. Philip Benizi, who had accompanied Cardinal Latino Orsini, sent by Nicholas III (Oct. 1279-Jan. 1280), on his peacemaking mission, he received the Servite habit from him. From then on he lived almost always at Monte Senario, amid austere penances, except during the years 1282-85, during which, already ordained a priest, he accompanied on his apostolic journeys the same St. Philip, prior general of the Order, at whose death he was present in Todi. He died on 9 April 1315 at Monte Senario, where he was buried. His cult ab immemorabili was confirmed by Pius VII on 30 March 1821.
