ALLE, GIROLAMO. - Bolognese preacher, b. in 1582, d. in 1660. He entered (1607) the Order of S. Girolamo of Fiesole, becoming its definitor. For thirty years he taught Sacred Scripture at the University of Bologna. His works, oratorical, ascetical, and polemical (Mazzucchelli, I, 1, pp. 500-501, lists 14 of them), reflect the pompous style of the seventeenth century.
