ANCHIER (ANSCHER), PANTALEON. — Cardinal, originally from Troyes. He was archdeacon of Laon. In Dec. 1262 he was created by his uncle, Pope Urbano IV, cardinal of the title of S. Prassede. He completed and consecrated the collegiate church of S. Urbano, founded by his uncle at Troyes, and, in that same city, had a small church built as a subsidiary of the parish of S. Giovanni. In 1266 he was sent by Clemente IV, together with other cardinals, to crown Carlo d'Angiò king of the Two Sicilies. He died in Rome on 1 Nov. 1286 and was buried in S. Prassede.
