ANGELERIO, GREGORIO. — Capuchin theologian from Calabria, born at Panaja on an unknown date, died at Naples on 15 January 1662.
He wrote apologetic, philosophical, and theological works in Latin, of which only the following saw the light: De praeparatione catholica narrationes septem (Naples 1653), in which, after refuting the errors of atheists, pagans, Jews, Turks, heretics, and schismatics, he demonstrates the divinity of the Roman Catholic Church. His oratorical output is impressive. In addition to more than three volumes of unpublished Lenten sermons, he published: Il prezioso tesoro del Sangue di Cristo raccolto dalla Sacra Scrittura e dai Santi Padri in 40 prediche (in folio, Naples 1651).
