Antonio di Giusto

ANTONIO di GIUSTO. - Florentine sculptor, b. in 1479, who moved to France with his brothers Giovanni (d. 1549) and Andrea. In 1507 he carved the funeral monument of Thomas James, bishop of Dol in Brittany, with the collaboration of his brother

Giovanni, whose name appears in the inscription placed on the monument itself; in Gaillon he executed 12 figures of apostles in alabaster, placed in the chapel of the castle. From 1516, again in collaboration with his brother, he executed the funeral monument of King Louis XII and of Anne of Brittany in the basilica of St. Denis in Paris. Nothing is known of the activity that A. must have carried out. He died before leaving Italy.
