ANTONIO da GERUSALEMME. - Franciscan missionary in Palestine. Little is known about where or when he was born; he knew four Eastern languages. In 1717 he was appointed lecturer in Arabic at the missionary college of S. Pietro in Montorio in Rome and penitentiary for Eastern languages at St. Peter’s. He returned to his homeland in 1722. In 1742 a translation of the *Initiazione di Cristo* into Arabic was published in Rome under his name.
Several other works by him are extant, almost all anonymous or pseudonymous; noteworthy are: *Lettere del conte Aurelio Rosalbi al sig. Carminio Donzelli*, a scholar from Salerno, Florence and Palermo 1728, defending the teaching method of the Jesuit colleges, and *Examen dissertationis theologicae negantis baptismum infantis in utero, editae a d. Martino Orelli Barnabita*, Florence 1710.
