ANTONIO DA GERUSALEMME. - Franciscan missionary in Palestine. It is not well known where or when he was born; he knew four Oriental languages. In 1717 he was appointed lecturer in the Arabic language at the missionary college of St. Peter in Montorio in Rome and penitentiary for the Oriental languages at St. Peter's. He returned to his homeland in 1722. His translation of the Imitation of Christ into Arabic was published in Rome in 1742.

Several other publications by him are still extant, almost all anonymous or pseudonymous; worth citing are: Lettere del conte Aurelio Rosalbi al sig. Carminio Donzelli, letterato di Salerno, Florence and Palermo 1728, in defense of the teaching method of the colleges of the Jesuits, and Esamea dissertationis theologicae negantis baptismum infantis in utero, editae a d. Martino Orelli Barnabita, Florence 1710.
