ARTEGIANI, ANGELO GUGLIELMO. - Augustinian, born in Rocca Contrada (Arcevia) on 27 Nov. 1683, died in Foligno on 30 May 1730. General Secretary of the Order, professor, member of literary academies in Pavia, Venice, Padua, and Foligno, he distinguished himself by his vast erudition. He wrote on literature, history, a volume of verse; but he devoted himself chiefly to sacred sciences.
He published: *Dissertazione storica e polemica sopra le settanta settimane di Daniello* by Fr. Tommaso Bouges, Augustinian, translated from the French (Venice 1721). He left a *Breve dissertazione* in which he examines whether St. Mary Magdalene, Mary the sister of Lazarus, and the sinful woman are three different women or one and the same person (Cod. 57, Angelica Library, Rome, A. r. 14), and, in the same library, five manuscript volumes of *Lucubrationes, Observationes, Propositiones theologica*.
