BELLATI, BARTOLOMEO. - Scholastic theologian and great preacher of the Conventuals, born in Feltre, of noble lineage, in the early 1400s, died in Rome in 1479. In 1472, on the occasion of the General Chapter of the Order in Ferrara, in the presence of Ercole I, he held a famous *disputa pro Immaculata* against V. Bandelli and other opponents. He was an indefatigable propagator, through preaching and writings, of the doctrine and feast of the Immaculate Conception; he directed the study at Bologna in 1478.
He wrote: *Opusculum in II Sent. Scoti* (Venice 1481); *Liber recollectarius de ver. Conceptionis B. M.* (Bologna 1481, pp. 100-109); he reprinted, corrected, the *Summa Aeterna* (Venice 1478), and the book of the *Lectura Parisiensi* by Scotus (Bologna 1478).
