BELLATI, BARTOLOMEO. - Scotist theologian and great preacher of the Conventuals, b. at Feltre, of a noble family, in the early 1400s, d. at Rome in 1479. In 1472, on the occasion of the general Chapter of the Order, at Ferrara, with Hercules I present, he held a celebrated disputa pro Immaculata against V. Bandelli and other adversaries. He was an indefatigable propagator, through preaching and through writings, of the doctrine and the feast of the Immaculate Conception; he headed the studium of Bologna in 1478.

He wrote: Opusculum in II Sent. Scoti (Venice 1481); Liber recollectarius de ver. Conceptionis B. M. (Bologna 1481, pp. 100-109); he reprinted, corrected, the Summa Astesana (Venice 1478), and the first book of Scotus's Lectura Parisiensis (Bologna 1478).
