BEMBO, BENEDETTO. - Brescian painter, in 1462 he signed a polyptych with the Virgin, the Child and four saints that was formerly in the Castle of Torchiara (Parma) and later in Florence in the Davanzati palace.

In the same castle, almost contemporaneously, he painted with lively narrative spirit in the golden hall. In 1465 he was working in Bergamo. Works of his still survive in S. Michele in Cremona: a Flight into Egypt (fragmentary) and three parts of a polyptych in the museum of the same city. B., who in the frescoes of Cremona and Torchiara and also in the polyptych of the Davanzati palace shows that he still follows the forms of the International Gothic, in the panels of the Cremona polyptych suggests that he had already grasped certain aspects of the style of Vincenzo Foppa.
