BERNARDO II di BADEN, blessed—Son of Margrave Giacomo V, born around 1430. Although married to the daughter of the king of France, Carlo VII, he led a very secluded life with her. Having left his hereditary possessions to his brother, he visited the princely courts of France and Savoy to gather aid for the Crusade against the Turks, having been entrusted with this task by Emperor Federico III. While traveling to Rome, he fell ill and died at Moncalieri on 15 July 1458. His cult ab immemorabili was confirmed by Clement XIV on 16 September 1769.
