CALCO, GIACOMO. - Carmelite, a native of Lodi and a professor at the University of Pavia. Having gone to Paris, he there took the side of Henry VIII, King of England; he was confined in the convent of Rouen, then, through the intervention of the King of France, was released and went to England, where he was loaded with honors by that king. But by the General Chapter of his Order, in 1532, he was degraded and condemned to prison, and he died in London of the plague, on 19 August 1533.
He wrote: De genealogia Christi; De purgatorii loco; De Primatu Romani Pontificis; De divortio Henrici VIII Anglorum regii, and others.
