CAPPELLAZZI, Andrea. – Philosopher and Neo-Thomist theologian, born 2 May 1854 at Monte Cremano, died 3 Oct. 1933 at Crema. A pious and zealous priest, in his early years he served as assistant to his uncle, the provost of S. Pietro Apostolo (Crema); from 1880 to 1920 he taught philosophy, canon law and sociology at the seminary of Cremona. From 1892 he was a member of the Roman Academy of S. Thomas. A prolific writer, he left some 60 volumes and 160 articles in various journals, in which he addressed the most pressing philosophical questions debated during the half-century from Leo XIII’s *Aeterni Patris* to Pius XI’s *Studiorum ducem*, shedding the clarifying light of Thomist thought upon them all. As a theologian he wrote: *L’Eucaristia* (Turin 1898), *Corso di apologetica cristiana* (3 vols., Crema-Lodi 1911–13) and various other essays.
