CAPRASIO, saint. — Solitary of Lerino, teacher and spiritual father of s. Onorato, founder of the celebrated monastery of the same name. Late sources make him abbot of Lerino after Onorato’s appointment to the see of Arles (426), but this does not seem consistent with the ancient sources. He died around 430. His contemporaries Hilary of Arles (PL 50, 1255), Eucherius of Lyon (ibid., 711), and Sidonius Apollinaris (PL 58, 721) speak of the sanctity of C. His life was written only in the 7th–8th century. Feast on 1 June.
