COLOBIUM (Κολόβος). - It is a long, tight tunic, without sleeves. It is worn by the Savior on the cross, as, for example, in the now almost destroyed painting of the cemetery of St. Valentine on the Flaminia (7th century); in the painting in S. Maria Antiqua, at the latest of the year 741; in the oratory of John VII in St. Peter's in the Vatican (705-707), as is learned from a copy by G. Grimaldi, in the underground of the Sts. John and Paul.
