CORSINI, EDOARDO. - Piarist, b. at Fanano, a locality of Felicarolo, on 4 Oct. 1702; d. at Pisa on 30 Nov. 1765. An illustrious polymath, he was one of the most learned men of his time, held in great esteem by Pope Benedict XIV. At a very young age he held the chair of logic and eloquence at the University of Pisa, and he published in Latin a highly esteemed course of philosophy.
He was also an eminent Greek scholar and archaeologist, and among his works the Fasti attici, the Dissertazioni agonistiche, the Notae Graecorum, etc., became famous, as well as the Series praefectorum Urbis, which earned him no small amount of criticism. From 1754 to 1760 he lived in Rome as general of the Order, afterwards returning to his studies at the University of Pisa.
