CRISTOFANO, GUIDINI da GANO (GALGANO). — Notary and writer from Siena, disciple of St. Catherine of Siena. He was among the defenders of his Commune. After being widowed, on 14 August 1391 he took the habit of the Brothers of the Hospital of St. Mary of the Scala, of which he became chancellor in 1410.
He was the first to translate into Latin (unpublished) the *Dialogue of the Saint*. He collected a large part of her letters and left us *Memoirs*... and poetry concerning her. He advocated for her canonization. He also left a collection of 78 legends of saints; and he was the first author of a life, now lost, of the Blessed Giovanni Colombini.
