DE LITIO, ANDREA. — Abruzzese painter of the second half of the 15th century. In the church of S. Maria Maggiore in Guardiagrele there is a fresco with the image of St. Christopher bearing his name and the date 1473.
For stylistic comparisons, the cycle of frescoes that covers the vault and walls in the main chapel of the cathedral of Atri, with the figures of the Evangelists and Doctors of the Church, and scenes from the life of the Virgin, has been attributed to the same painter. The work, quite unitary despite the evident intervention of assistants, reveals a lively personality, formed in contact with the Ferrarese and Umbrian-Marchegian currents. To him belong some isolated frescoes in the same cathedral, one in S. Agostino, also in Atri, and a few other works in Abruzzo are attributed to him, though with less foundation.
