JUAN DE DICASTILLO. — Spanish Jesuit theologian, b. in Naples to Spanish parents on 28 Dec. 1584, d. in Ingolstadt on 6 March 1653. He entered the religious life in 1600, taught scholastic theology at Murcia and Toledo, and later worked in Vienna, where he also served as court preacher to the emperor.
He wrote: *De iustitia et iure ceterisque virtutibus cardinalibus* (Antwerp 1641); *Tractatus de Incarnatione* (ibid. 1642); *De Sacramentis* (3 vols., ibid. 1646–52); *Tractatus duo de iuramento, perjuris et admiratione, necnon de censuris et poenis ecclesiasticis* (ibid. 1662).
