DOMENICO della S.ma TRINITÀ. — In the world Antoine Tardy, French Discalced Carmelite theologian, born on 4 August 1616 at Nevers, died in Rome on 7 April 1687. A Carmelite in Paris from 1634, he later served as general definitor (1656–59) and superior general (1659–65), and as consulter of the Holy Congregation of the Index; he was highly esteemed for his learning and virtue.
His distinguished work Bibliotheca theologica (7 vols., Rome 1665, 1676) represents a true encyclopaedia of scholastic, positive, apologetic, and mystical theology.
