DRUMONT, Édouard. — Writer, born in Paris on 3 May 1844, died there on 3 February 1917. Converted to Catholicism, he began the anti-Semitic struggle, denouncing the culpable judges with the pamphlet *La France juive* (1886) and with the newspaper *La libre parole*, founded for this purpose in 1892. He was a brilliant and vigorous journalist, a contributor to *L’Univers*, *La liberté*, *Le monde*; his articles were collected in the volume *Sur le chemin de la vie* (1914).
Among his most important works are to be recalled: *Mon vieux Paris: hommes et choses* (1878), crowned by the Académie française; *Les fêtes nationales de la France* (1879); *La fin du monde* (1888); *La dernière bataille* (1890); *Le testament d’un antisémite* (1891); *De l’or, de la boue, du sang* (1896); *Les Juifs et l’affaire Dreyfus* (1899); *Vieux portraits, vieux cadres* (1903).
