Elizabeth of the Holy Trinity, Venerable

ELISABETTA della S.MA TRINITA, venerable. - A Discalced Carmelite mystic, in the world Marie Joséphine Elisabeth Catcz, b. 18 July 1880 at Avord (Cher); from 1901 a Carmelite at Dijon, where she died with a reputation for holiness on 9 Nov. 1906. She succeeded admirably in realizing a life of intimate and continual communion with the One and Triune God, and attained the loftiest contemplation. The cause for her beatification has been introduced.

Information concerning her life and her interior life, drawn from her writings, was published by the sisters of Dijon under the title: Soeur Elisabeth de la Trinité, religieuse carmélite, Souvenirs (Dijon 1915, 1918, 1930, 1935, Paris 1927), in Italian trans. (Florence 1926) and in English trans. (London 1912).
