ETOURNEAU, Thomas. – Preacher and lecturer, born at Nantes on 19 July 1853, died at La Chapelle-Basse-Mer on 30 July 1908. Dominican from 1875. A renowned orator, he delivered sermons and lectures in various cities of France and Belgium. For four years (1898–1902) he preached at Notre-Dame in Paris, developing the great Wednesday lectures on Catholic dogma and apologetics: God, Providence, evil. He published these lectures as *Les grandes notions du catholicisme*, Paris 1898–1902.
