EYMIEU, ANTONIN. - Jesuit, lecturer and psychologist, b. at Chamaret (Drôme) on 21 Nov. 1861, d. at Marseille on 9 Oct. 1933.

The best fruit of his profound studies of psychology, reinforced by the living experience of souls, may be considered the volumes that make up the series entitled: Le gouvernement de soi-même. I: Les grandes lois (Paris 1906; Italian trans., Rome 1913); II: L'obsession et le scrupule (Paris 1910, Italian trans., Rome 1913); III: L'art de vouloir (Paris 1934); IV: La loi de la vie (ibid. 1921); in all of which the logical and scientific vigor aims to form deep and firmly rooted convictions, which resolve themselves into the firmness and constancy of a tempered, resolute character, master of itself. The very numerous editions demonstrate its persevering effectiveness.
