FRANCESCO di Gesù Maria. – A Discalced Carmelite theologian, originally from Burgos, who died in Salamanca in 1677. He taught theology for many years at the celebrated college of Salamanca, served as prior of various convents, and was a man of proven prudence and extraordinary austerity.
He published the first volume of the Cursus Salmanticosis moralis, containing the treatises: De Sacramentis in genere, de Baptismo, de Confirmatione, de Eucharistia, de Ectrema Unctione (Salamanca 1665, Antwerp 1672, Madrid 1709, Venice 1750), Commentarius in Apocalypsim, together with the treatise: De sensibus S. Scripturae (2 vols., Lyon 1638–49), Incentiva animae fidelis ad amorem (Salamanca 1680).
