FRANCIS OF JESUS MARY. - Discalced Carmelite theologian, a native of Burgos, d. at Salamanca in 1677. He taught theology for many years in the famous college of Salamanca, was prior of various convents, and was a man of tested prudence and extraordinary austerity.

He published the first volume of the Cursus Salmanticensis moralis with the treatises: De Sacramentis in genere, de Baptismo, de Confirmatione, de Eucharistia, de Extrema Unctione (Salamanca 1665, Antwerp 1672, Madrid 1709, Venice 1750), Commentarius in Apocalypsim, together with the treatise: De sensibus S. Scripturae (2 vols., Lyon 1638-49), Incentiva animae fidelis ad amorem (Salamanca 1680).
