FRANCESCO, GIOVANNI. - Benedictine, b. at Brescia, lived between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th. In 1500 he published in Venice a new edition of the Rule of St. Benedict with the commentary of Card. de Tocquemada and the Clementines, adding to it the second book of the Dialogues of St. Gregory the Great and the text of the Rules of St. Basil, St. Augustine and St. Francis, together with a short treatise De laude religionis et voti. The work was later reprinted in Paris in 1510.

F. was an assertor of the priesthood of St. Benedict.
