GIOVANNI FRANCESCO. – Benedictine, born in Brescia, living between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th. In 1500 he published in Venice a new edition of the Rule of St Benedict with the commentary of Cardinal de Torquemada and the Clementines, adding to it the second book of the Dialogues of St Gregory the Great and the texts of the Rules of St Basil, St Augustine and St Francis, together with a short treatise De laude religionis et voti. The work was reprinted in Paris in 1510.
F. was an advocate of the priesthood of St Benedict.
