FRINS, VICTOR. — Jesuit, theologian, b. at Aachen on 17 Sept. 1840, d. at Bonn on 13 Apr. 1912. He taught philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Ratisbona; Sacred Scripture, moral theology, and canon law at Ditton-Hall; and scholastic theology at St. Bueno’s. He spent the last twenty years in the office of spiritual father.
Solidity and rectitude of principles, originality and depth of intellect, always distinguished his words and writings. He contributed to various periodicals, especially Stimmen aus Martin-Laack; but his works are better known: Doctrina s. Thamne Aquinatis de coöperatione Dei (Paris 1893), a vigorous and clear refutation of opposing opinions; De actibus humanis ontologice et psychologice consideratis (Freiburg im Breisgau 1897); De actibus humanis moraliter consideratis (ibid. 1904); De formanda conscientia (ibid. 1911); the work was not completed with the fourth volume, De peccatis.
