FRINS, VICTOR. - Jesuit, theologian, b. at Aachen on 17 Sept. 1840, d. at Bonn on 13 Apr. 1912. He taught philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Regensburg; Sacred Scripture, moral theology and canon law at Ditton-Hall; scholastictheology at St. Bueno's. He spent the last twenty years in the office of spiritual father.
Solidity and uprightness of principles, originality and depth of intellect always distinguished his words and his writings. He collaborated on various periodicals, especially Stimmen aus Martin-Laack; but better known are his works: Doctrina s. Thamne Aquinatis de coöperatione Dei (Paris 1893), a vigorous and clear refutation of opposing opinions; De actibus humanis ontologice et psychologice consideratis (Freiburg im Br. 1897); De actibus humanis moraliter consideratis (ibid. 1904); De formanda conscientia (ibid. 1911); the work was not brought to completion with the fourth volume De peccatis.
