RINALDO FULIN. — Historian, b. in Venice on 30 Apr. 1824, d. there on 24 Nov. 1884. He studied at the Seminary of Venice and was ordained priest in 1874. In 1856 he was appointed professor of history at the liceo of S. Caterina, but because of his anti-Austrian sentiments he was removed from teaching; later he taught history at the liceo Marco Polo and at the advanced school of commerce.
An indefatigable researcher of sources and historical documents and a great scholar, besides articles and pamphlets he left books of notable importance such as: Breve sommario di storia veneta (Venice 1914); Pubblicazioni storiche relative alla regione veneta (ibid. 1880); Studio sull’Archivio dell’Inquisitori di Stato (ibid. 1868). In 1871 he founded the Archivio veneto, and in 1873 he promoted the establishment of the Deputazione di storia patria per le province di Venezia.
