HUANCAYO, Diocese of. – A city and diocese of Peru, created by Pope Pius XII on 18 December 1944 with the apostolic constitution *Supremum apostolatus munus*, by separating it from the diocese of Huánuco. The diocese is a suffragan of Lima. It covers an area of 18,000 km² with 38,000 inhabitants, all Catholic, distributed across 31 parishes served by 32 diocesan priests and 41 religious; it has a seminary, 6 male religious communities and 5 female (1949). The cathedral is dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity.
