LAMPE, FRIEDRICH ADOLF. - Reformed Protestant theologian, b. at Detmold (Bremen) on 18 Feb. 1683, d. at Bremen in 1729. His university studies at Franeker decided him upon an important turning point in his orientation; after which he was a pastor in various cities; then professor of theology and church history at the University of Utrecht (1720-27), and finally parish priest of St. Anscharius and professor at the Academy of Bremen.
Reformed communities for his catechisms and his sacred songs: Mein Leben ist ein Pilgrimstand; Mein Fels hat überswunden; O wer gibt mir Adlerflügel and for his pious booklet on Communion: Der heilige Brautschmuck der Hochzeit-Gäste des Lammes an seiner Bundestafel (Bremen 1720).
