LAMPE, FRIEDRICH ADOLF. - Reformed Protestant theologian, born at Detmold (Bremen) on 18 February 1683, died at Bremen in 1729. His university studies at Franeker led him to an important turning point in his orientation; thereafter he was pastor in various cities; then professor of theology and ecclesiastical history at the University of Utrecht (1720–27), and finally parish priest of St. Ansgar and professor at the Academy of Bremen.
