MINGES, PARTHENIUS. - Theologian and medievalist, b. at Flemlingen in the Palatinate on 15 Jan. 1861, d. at Monaco di Baviera on 12 Apr. 1926.
A Friar Minor in 1881, chronologist and archivist of the Franciscan province of Bavaria, doctor of philosophy and theology in 1904 and 1905, he devoted himself to theological teaching and to the study of Franciscan thought, especially Scotist thought. Prefect of the college of Quaracchi from 1906 to 1913, he worked on the critical edition of Alessandro d'Hales’s Summa.
He wrote: Geschichte der Franziskaner in Bayern (Monaco 1896); Compendium theologiae dogmaticae (3 vols., Monaco 1901-1902; 2nd ed., Ratisbona 1921-23); Ioannis Duns Scoti doctrina philosophica et theologica (2 vols., Quaracchi 1930), as well as more than eighty studies that make him one of the most distinguished popularizers of Scotist thought.
