FRANZISKANISCHE STUDIEN. - German quarterly journal founded in 1914 in Münster in Westphalia by Fr. Beda Kleinschmidt O.F.M., with the aim of studying the influence of Franciscanism in the complex life of the past and the history of the three Franciscan institutions, especially in the Germanic territories.

With the collaboration of well-known investigators of Franciscan matters, such as Holzapfel, Minges, Eubel, Bihl, Oliger, etc., it has made notable contributions in this field to Franciscan studies of recent decades. Subsequently it also extended its interest to philosophical and theological questions. Suspended, due to wartime difficulties, in 1944, it resumed publication in 1949 in collaboration with Franciscan Studies (v.) of New York. Alongside F. S. there is published a series of monographs directed to the same purpose under the title: Franziskanische Forschungen, Stanislao Majarelli
