FRANZISKANISCHE STUDIEN. — German quarterly journal founded in 1914 at Münster in Westphalia by Fr. Beda Kleinschmidt O.F.M., with the aim of studying the influence of Franciscanism on the complex life of the past and the history of the three Franciscan institutions, especially in the German territories.
With the collaboration of well-known investigators of Franciscan matters, such as Holzapfel, Minges, Eubel, Bihl, Oliger, etc., it has made significant contributions in this field to Franciscan studies in recent decades. Subsequently, it also extended its interest to philosophical and theological questions. Suspended in 1944 because of wartime difficulties, it resumed publication in 1949 Franciscan Studies (v.) of New York. Alongside F. S., a series of monographs devoted to the same purpose is published under the title: Franziskanische Forschungen,
