NARDINI, COLLEGE. — It took its name from the Forlivese Cardinal Stefano Nardini, archbishop of Milan (d. 1484), who founded it by testamentary provision in his Roman Palace near S. Tommaso in Parione.
Legal and administrative oversight was entrusted to the custodians and guardians of the archconfraternity of the Savior at Sancta Sanctorum of the Lateran. It was intended to accommodate twenty young men from Rome, Milan, and Forlì aspiring to the priesthood; however, owing to the schemes of the founder’s family heirs, it housed only six. For lack of revenues, it was suppressed around the middle of the eighteenth century.
