NEOT, Saint, Hermit. - Born in Cornwall into a noble family, related to the English king Alfred, he became a monk at Glastonbury. Ordained a priest, he withdrew to the eremitical life in a solitary place in Huntingdonshire, where the monastery (cell) of Eynesbury later arose, which is said to have been founded by him on his return from a journey to Rome, undertaken before 877, the approximate year of his death. Feast day July 31.
