**NICASIUS, Saint.** — Tenth in the series of bishops of Reims, he lived between the end of the 4th century and the beginning of the 5th.
He founded in his city the Basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. N. was martyred during the Vandal invasion on 14 December 407 (less probably, others place his martyrdom during the Hunnic invasion in 451) together with his sister Eutropia, the deacon Florentius, and Jocundus. They were buried in the church (or cemetery) of St Agricola, according to the **Acta.** He is one of the cephalophore martyrs (v. MARTIRIO E MARTIRE).
