On 31 May 1886 the Sacred Congregation of Propaganda Fide approved the Institute and its Constitutions. The spread of the P. C. di M. was rapid, and it is now present in Australia, South Africa, the United States, and many parts of Europe, with 35 houses and over 1,000 religious dedicated to the care of the sick and dying in clinics and hospitals.
