IL QUOTIDIANO. - Political and news newspaper, organ of the Italian Catholic Action. It is published in Rome and is distributed in various regional editions in central-southern Italy and in Sicily.
Il Q. was presented by Msgr. Gilla Gremigni, then "ad interim" president of the A.C.I., on June 11, 1944. Igino Giordani assumed its editorship and held it uninterruptedly until April 20, 1946, the day on which he was replaced in that post by Prof. Federico Alessandrini. Il Q. continues the tradition of the Roman Catholic political newspaper, already upheld by L'Avvenire d'Italia (Roman edition) and then by L'Avvenire. In fact, on Sept. 1, 1933, L'Avvenire d'Italia, the Catholic daily of Bologna directed by Raimondo Manzini, began in Rome the publication of the Roman and southern-Italy editions, continuing them until April 4, 1938. On April 5, L'Avvenire, directed by Imolo Marconi (Novus), took over in Rome from L'Avvenire d'Italia. The last issue came out on June 4, 1944, the day of the liberation of Rome.
