THE DAILY, IL. – Political and news journal, organ of Italian Catholic Action. It is published in Rome and is distributed in various regional editions in central-southern Italy and Sicily.
Il Q. was launched by Msgr. Gilla Gremigni, then “ad interim” president of the A.C.I., on 11 June 1944. Igino Giordani assumed its direction and held it uninterruptedly until 20 April 1946, when he was replaced in the post by Prof. Federico Alessandrini. Il Q. continues the tradition of the Roman political Catholic newspaper already upheld by L’Avenire d’Italia (Roman edition) and then by L’Avenire. In fact, on 19 September 1933 L’Avenire d’Italia, the Catholic daily of Bologna directed by Raimondo Manzini, began publishing Roman and southern Italian editions in Rome, continuing them until 4 April 1938. On 5 April 1938 L’Avenire d’Italia was succeeded in Rome by L’Avenire, directed by Imolo Marconi (Novus). Its final issue appeared on 4 June 1944, the day of Rome’s liberation.
