Schmid, Franz

SCHMID, FRANZ. - Theologian, b. in Trent in 1841, d. in Bressanone in 1922.

A pupil of the German College, he was spiritual director of the major seminary of Bressanone (1879), where he taught dogmatic theology for 26 years (1882-1908). Rector of the seminary from 1908, in 1916 vicar general and provost of the Cathedral. A passionate scholar of St. Augustine and St. Thomas, he carried on a notable scholarly activity (1918-21).
