SCHMID, FRANZ. - Theologian, b. at Trento in 1841, d. at Bressanone in 1922.
A student of the Collegio Germanico, he was spiritual director of the major seminary of Bressanone (1879), where he taught dogmatic theology for 26 years (1882-1908). Rector of the seminary from 1908, in 1916 he became vicar general and provost of the Cathedral. A passionate student of St. Augustine and St. Thomas, he carried on notable scholarly activity (1918-21).
