SEVERUS OF MINORCA. - Bishop. Around 417 he wrote an encyclical letter "ad omnem ecclesiam": De virtutibus ad Iudaeorum conversionem in Minoricensi insula factis (PL 20, 731-46; 41, 821-32).

In it he reports the movement stirred up among the population by the arrival of Orosius on the island of Minorca, with the relics of St. Stephen Protomartyr (year 416): numerous Jews, headed by the head of the Synagogue, were converted. The document is important both from the historical and from the cultural point of view. On the other hand, it is the oldest source we possess on Christianity in the Balearic Islands.
