He began his literary studies, entered the Congregation of St Bernard of the Cistercian Order, and later became abbot of the monastery of SS. Vincenzo ed Anastasio alle Acque Salive, where he was buried. He is responsible for the first documented history of the dioceses of Italy, known under the title *Italia sacra* (q.v.); he also left *Cardinalium elogia* of the Cistercian Order (Florence 1624) and other works on the Order itself; genealogical notes on the Roman family of the Capizucchi (Rome 1653); additions to the *Vitae* of Cacconio in the 1650 edition, and other minor works.
