AGOSTINI, GARGANO da SIENA. — Master of theology, regent of studies in his native city (1488–91), and general commissioner of the Conventual Franciscan Order in Italy. He died in Siena on 19 December 1523.

Of his theological works, there remain Commentaries on Philosophy and Theology (manuscripts in Siena and Florence), and the De Auctoritate Protectoris Ordinis, in two books (1507), in which the author intervened against the frequent and improper recourse of the friars to the cardinal protector, appealing to earlier papal documents (by Gregory XI and Sixtus IV), the last of which was the letter *Aequum et consonum* of 1505 from Julius II to the minister general Egidio Delfini.
