ADRAGNA, ANTONIO MARIA. - Born in Trapani on 1 October 1818, a professed religious (2 October 1839) of the Conventual Friars Minor, a priest in 1841, a doctor of the College of St. Bonaventure in Rome (1844) and professor of theology (Würzburg, Assisi, Perugia, Palermo). Summoned to Rome by Pius IX in 1861 as a consultor of the Holy Office, he was later one of the eight members of the "Dogmatic Commission" in preparation for the Vatican Council and took a very active part in it (1866). Elected minister general (1852), at the time of the government suppressions he had to go into exile in Holland and Belgium. He resigned in 1879, retiring to the college of the Vatican Penitentiaries in Rome, where he died on 14 October 1890.

Of his work as a theologian there remain his Voti, much appreciated; among his other writings, a Quarestinale and a valuable Commentary on the Div. Comm. were lost (cf. L'Osservatore Romano, 17 April 1914).
